Team DutchSail
After Monday six and Tuesday only two games, all six of the scheduled games could continue on Wednesday. Under ideal conditions both boats of Team DutchSail sailed up the rankings during the day.
Internal battle for place in the finals
Already in the second race of the day both DutchSail boats met each other. Exciting because in the format that is being sailed, only two out of four boats go through each race.
Foil to the finish in finals
After a break due to the loss of wind it was finally time for the final after waiting for more than two hours. By now the wind had weakened so much that it seemed that foaling, in which the boat rises out of the water, would no longer be in it.
Coach Pieter-Jan Postma more than satisfied
Coach Pieter-Jan Postma was more than satisfied with the success of both his boats afterwards. Postma: “We started this project because we have a vision. A three-four weeks ago we had it all and we knew we could sail here. If you look at how we sail around here but also how we function as a team on the shore then that deserves all the compliments. There is a special culture in which we share knowledge and want to make each other better. This requires not only good communication, but also guts and trust, which is very strong from both men and women. Everyone, all sailors, develop personally hard and that is very cool to see and to facilitate”.
“But we must also be real and stay real. This is just one regatta, we are only at the beginning of a long and hopefully beautiful journey. We can and must improve a lot and that is what we are going to do. It is a beautiful start for eight top sailors who are working hard for their dreams. That we are allowed to do this together is incredibly cool. So we are going to celebrate this now and we are going to enjoy it for a while but tomorrow morning the focus will be on the next race starting this weekend. There’s still work to be done.”
